With the recent economic struggles it has become more evident that Americans are required to look for some sort of monetary assistance through means that are a little bit different than usual. Usually, one would go to work, get a paycheck and live a normal lifestyle. With today’s economy providing less than advantageous opportunities and rather bleak financial outlooks many Americans who own timeshares have turned to selling their timeshares.

Selling your timeshare might seem like a pretty easy task upon first glance, but it can be pretty daunting if you do not know what you are doing. That is why we have put together a couple of notes about selling your timeshare to assist you.

You should never pay an upfront fee, a market analysis fee, advertising fee or some other type of fee. This is almost always unnecessary and will lead to you losing out on your bottom line. Many scams stem from these types of payments so do not fall for it.

Find successful advertising venues. As with any type of advertising you will want to put your product (Your Timeshare) in front of as many clients who are interested in buying it as possible. There are many locations you can do this but what many people who have been successful in the past, they have looked to others who have successfully sold their timeshares already for ideas. Find out what they did and emulate their success.

There are a few timeshare communities online that specifically look to sell timeshares. This can be successful if done correctly.

Make sure that you have your timeshare loan paid off. Very few buyers would be interested in taking over the payments.

Be professional. Treat others how you want to be treated. If you want to be treated with respect you should treat others with respect as well. Handle all prospective buyers with a business like mentality. You will be able to sell your timeshare quicker if you do.

There are seller’s markets and there are buyers markets. Obviously if you are selling a timeshare you want to be in one of those lovely seller’s markets. Seller’s markets are when there is more demand than supply. This causes the price of the timeshares to climb and allow you to earn a better return on your investment. This leaves you with the daunting question of “Should I sell my Timeshare?”

Unlike the real estate market, the timeshare market can be dependent upon different factors. For instance, if you have a location in a prime summer area, the value of your timeshare would obviously be valued at a premium due to the fact that there will be more demand for it. Fluctuations like this could be peak travel periods, special events, conventions or even carnivals. These are just some of the reasons why people travel so knowing this information could help build up the timeshares worth or value. It could also help you to find potential buyers.

Depending on the location and what is going on around you, it can assist you in finding buyers. For example, if there is a special event going on or convention for a certain type of person, you can target that person to buy your timeshare. Or, at the very least it can provide you with a start for a prospective buyer list.

A strange thing about timeshares is that most of the time they do not sell for as much as you paid for them. It is anticipated that most people who end up selling their timeshares receive a fraction of what they paid for it. That percentage has been quoted to be in the 30-50% range. I know that might sound shocking to you, but it is true. This is something you might want to think about before taking the plunge and selling it. It comes to how much you can get for it, and how much you need the money.

Selling your timeshare can often be a pretty daunting task. Usually the timing or reasons for wanting to sell don’t really put you in a position of leverage when selling. Since you most likely will be selling because you won’t be able to use the time, or because you need the cash back, it puts you at somewhat of a disadvantage in the selling process.

Desperate sellers end up losing more money, as they need to make a sale quickly. This would leave you accepting an offer much less than you paid for it. It is not uncommon to receive an offer as little as 30% of the price you paid for it. The sad part about this is that many people accept this offer without hesitation.

So you want to sell your timeshare now? You will need to present your timeshare in a way that will make others want to buy it. Do you remember how you were presented the timeshare opportunity? How the salesperson said all the right words to get you to sign on the dotted line? Now I don’t think you have to get it to that level but you will definitely have to know the benefits of your timeshare in and out. Give the prospective buyer what they want.

Advertising in the right areas and markets is crucial to you being able to sell your timeshare fast. There are many online communities that offer services to assist you in selling your timeshare. The down side to this is that most of them charge a fee for the listing or assistance. It is up to you if you want to go that route, but if you really need to sell your timeshare now, that might be one of your best options.

Knowing the price that you are willing to accept is also an important part of the negotiating process. Many people might jump at an opportunity without actually thinking about it. In a sense this is a lot like impulse buying without any rational thought being given to the sale. Think about what you would like to sell it for, and come up with your lowest offer you would be willing to accept. Just by knowing this it will assist you in your thought process.

There are many timeshare scams out there. You will have to be diligent and know your stuff to help prevent being taken for a ride or paying for something that you don’t necessarily need. Paying extra cash for a service that isn’t going to assist you can be likened to a scam as you end up wasting your money on something that will produce absolutely no results.

One of the first scams that you should avoid is the upfront fees. It does not matter how many offers a person has receive and how much they guarantee that they will get you X amount of dollars for your timeshare, you should not have to come up with anything up front. If you do, you are most likely just giving your money away.

There are many scam artists who have used pressure sales tactics promising that they have buyers ready to purchase your timeshare at a set amount. In order to speak with those buyers you have to fork over a nice sum of money. This is usually bogus and should not even be given a second thought.

Another scam that is floating around right now is one where a potential buyer offers you more than your asking price on the timeshare. This should raise a red flag but people are greedy so they would enjoy the additional revenue. They will instruct you to just refund the difference to them. Once you have paid them, magically the funds that they paid you will disappear and you will end up having given them your own money. Not a smart thing to do.

Another scam circulating involves having potential buyers offering to buy your timeshare at the cost that you want while simultaneously selling you another vacation package that is usually a bogus offer. Avoid this and use common sense. If what is going on is too good to be true most likely it is.

See What Your TimeShare is Worth Here

Like anything, Values on your timeshare can fluctuate dramatically depending on many factors. Some of which include current market conditions and local activities. There could be a spike in the number of people selling similar timeshares at a certain time, providing an influx of supply and saturating a market thus devaluating your current timeshare value.

You could also be blessed with a spike in the interest of your timeshare as the market dictates a very limited supply of the timeshare you have to offer. This could leave you with an entirely advantageous opportunity.

One thing to note is that a timeshare is not a traditional piece of real estate such as a house, and it does not normally appreciate in value. There are rare circumstances where it could, but for the most part it is not likely. This means that your resale value, or value that you will end up receiving in the end would be much less than what you actually paid for.

Market research on timeshare sales have dictated that timeshare sales have typically been within 30-50% of the amount you actually paid for the timeshare. This will leave you losing a decent chunk of change.

The best way to get an accurate assessment of the value of your timeshare would be to take a look at the timeshares with the same information and see how much they are going for. Now this information should be used as a gauge and not as a standard as some of the people could have no idea what they are looking for and could be asking for way more than what a standard asking price should be. In addition to that, it could be on the other end of the spectrum and they could be charging way less than what it is worth.

The important thing is to attempt to get what you are willing to get for it. You have to be realistic in setting the value of your timeshare if you want to sell it quickly. As with anything that you might want to have
